Monte Hill

Monte Hill is Margao’s highest point and gives a good view of the sunset. During the season of lent, huge processions of the way of the cross is conducted on this particular hill. The church ‘Calcada de Nossa Senhora de Piedade’, which is popularly known as Our Lady of Mercy, has also been a part of many popular Bollywood films like Bhoothnath. The church is open for everyone at all times. Many people love coming up the hill and spending their time away from the traffic and noise below. This chapel is known for the only candle light mid-night Christmas mass in Goa.
