This is a wonderful and scenic church that is less known and less crowded. People have given their testimonies of their experience here; relieving stress. One’s mind is sure to be lost in this beautiful place. This church is supposed to be the second oldest church in Goa. With its high-vaulted ceiling and simple elegant done up interiors, the church makes for a captivating sight. The phrase “Penha de Franca” gets its name from Nossa Senhora da Penha de Franca (Our Lady of the Rock of France) who was considered as a patron by the Portuguese seafarers, who had managed to survive the tough voyage to India. Here onwards Nossa Senhora da Penha de Franca became the famous location to visit in Goa.
